May 29 - Spring Walk - The Graham Farm

Annual Spring Walk and Pot Luck

Yes it’s that time of year again and spring is in the air… time to get the dogs out and shake off the winter blues.

Again this year, Carol and Chris will host this event at the farm.

As always this is an event not to be missed. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reacquaint with old friends and enjoy the dogs in all of their glory.

As in past years, we will be providing Canine Good Neighbour testing and certification for your dog. We encourage you to participate. It’s good for you and very good for your dog.

WHERE: Carol Graham’s home #5039 4th Line, R. R. #2, Acton, Ontario (519) 853-3005

WHEN: Sunday, May 29, 2011

WHY: Just because!! It is spring and the perfect time to get outdoors, meet old friends, renew acquaintances and make new friends. Of course owners get to do this as well.

WHO: ALL GREAT PYRENEES are welcome. Their owners can come if they want. Great Pyrenees are also very hospitable and welcome any other dogs who wish to attend. So don't be shy. Come join the fun and meet folks from the GPCSO.

TIME: 12:00 P.M. (Noon)

Bring your favourite food for sharing, don your hiking boots and come out for some socialization. As it has not been a hard winter (unlike times in the past) we are hopeful that we will have gorgeous weather – not too hot or too cold, the ground will be mud free and there will be no flies or mosquitoes.

May 29 - Canine Good Neighbour Testing - The Graham Farm
Canine Good Neighbour Testing... while you attend our Annual Spring Pot Luck Lunch and Dog Walk.

Is your dog a Good Neighbour? Do you know? Well, this is your chance to find out.

The C.K.C. allows for testing of all dogs (both pure bred and non-purebred) as a good neighbour. This test is devised to assess your relationship with your dog and your ability to control him or her. IT IS NOT A COMPETITION!! Your dog is evaluated on its ability to perform basic exercises and to demonstrate good manners while out in public.

We will be holding a Canine Good Neighbour Testing for all interested parties at our Annual Walk. The test takes approximately 10 - 15 minutes per dog.

The Testing will take place starting at 10:00 a.m., prior to the luncheon. The cost is $20.00 per dog. (Cash or cheques only- payable at the time of testing) Dogs passing the test receive a Certificate from the C.K.C.

In addition, you may want to purchase a Badge of Merit ($5.00) or a Canine Good Neighbour Tag for your dog’s collar ($12.50). Both will be available for purchase after completion of testing.

June 11 and 12 – Woofstock Toronto St Lawrence Market - Woofstock is the largest outdoor festival for dogs in all of North America.

Saturday June 18, 2011 – It’s Barkham in Markham… A new community has formed in Markham. It's called Barkham and it happens every year on Main Street Markham during the Markham Village Music Festival, this year on Saturday June 18, 2011.

This years special event will be the LARGEST SIMULTANEOUS DOG STAY and we will be going for the Canadian Record in 2011 with the goal of breaking the Guinness World Record LARGEST SIMULTANEOUS DOG STAY in 2012.

Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 - Dog Days of Scugog will return to the Scugog Shores Museum Village over the weekend of Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 as Durham Region's largest dog event marks its ninth anniversary. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

A fun-filled day for dogs and their whole family, the Scugog Shores Museum Village is expecting more than 2,500 dogs, their owners and interested spectators to join in the weekend-long fun that aims to promote the proper training and care of dogs and to celebrate the joy of sharing our lives with our canine friends.

Scugog Shores Museum Village, 16210 Island Road, Port Perry, Ontario L9L 1B4
