Bear....OMG A BEAR!!!!

by Carmen Thompson

I was taking my GP Bear for his morning bathroom break along with my yellow lab Buddy when I heard branches breaking and saw movement coming towards us. At first I thought it was my cousin who lives next door because the sound was of something large breaking the branches. So I'm not thinking anything of it and continued walking. All of a sudden I literally came nose to nose with a 700lb black bear. We all were taken off guard until my GP registered what it was and went into protection mode. It all happened very fast, but my GP pulled completely out of his harness and started running the bear backwards into the trees. I ran for the house to get my phone then started running in the general direction of the barking. I'm happy to have found my GP in one piece and not harmed. I took this picture when I found them and my GP was keeping the bear outside the property perimeter. I can say without a doubt he saved me that morning and I am eternally grateful.
