Bear
DOB: October 2018 (almost 7-years-old)
Location: Midland, Ontario
Pyr/Maremma? mix
Single family home with a large securely-fenced property or a hobby farm.
Purchased/adopted from whom? Previous owner who had a change in circumstance.
Ready for adoption once recuperated from his neuter on April 9th
Why is he being rehomed:
This boy wants to be where the fun is and that’s in the boarding kennel his people run. He enjoys group play with a wide range of dogs. He would be fine moving to join another family. He loves sleeping in the kennel building or barn area so would work well in a farm environment. We were contemplating just letting him continue as a permanent kennel resident seeing as he is quite content, but really it would be best for him to find a family or livestock that he can focus on. He may be great on a hobby farm with proper introduction to the livestock.
Where does he sleep? Kennel
Where does he spend most of his time? He sleeps in a kennel, but spends all day in play group with other dogs. Has slept in the house as well.
Is he crate-trained? Yes
Does he show food protection behaviour? Like most dogs, he does not want to share his food.
Has he ever escaped? No
Is he destructive in the house? No
Does he have separation anxiety? No
What is your dog’s reaction to guests coming onto the property? Into your home? He loves people.
How is he with children? He was raised with kids, and is good with them.
Is he aggressive with people? He loves people! He will grumble if he wants to be left alone.
List types, ages and sexes for each pet in home if any. He plays and interacts with a wide range of dogs. Doesn't like intact males, but most intact males do not agree.
How is he with other animals? Has been fine with cats.
General:
He is a good dog. He will bark when he sees anything out of the ordinary. Not spectacular on leash but not horrible either. He is very affectionate, but not clingy and is fine spending time on his own. Loves socializing with other dogs and used to going to a dog park. Likes to go to bed early and doesn't get up early. Usually out cold by 7:30 p.m. and sleeps right through till 7:00 a.m.
