Henry

Here is my newly found best friend, Henry. We are pet lovers in general and most pets we have owned have enjoyed a long life span. Nothing special in our treatment with animals other than love and lots of it.

When I first received our Pyr as a pup, perhaps 6 months old, he was quite the king of testing our patience, tasting most of the floor moulding along the wall along with other small tasty furniture parts. You know, normal puppy stuff, however slightly magnified by his size. I say this not to scare anyone off in owning a Pyr, because in reality it was nothing more than puppy behaviour.

After a few minor scratches and a couple of years later, Henry has turned out to be the most loyal, most loving, most majestic, most proud dog I have ever owned. We have a special bond that I have never felt before. He is indeed my best fried. What a special breed of dog.

But as cautiously listed in various areas of this fantastic website, they may not be for everyone, so please read more about them before bringing them into your life.

He is approximately 2 years old in the picture attached and is currently about 2 1/2 years old.

A wonderful loving dog that has brought us much love and peace of mind.

For Gabriel
by: Anonymous

Reading this beautiful post about Henry this morning brought tears again. Everything said about Henry we can attribute to our boys Gabriel and Patches. Gabriel our Pyr and Patches our mixed breed rescue. A bonded pair, they cared for each other and for their humans.
We lost Gabriel to cancer this August, just weeks before his 9th birthday. His canine companion Patches had also reached that awful stage when the last loving thing we can do for our beloved dogs is to let them go gently, over the rainbow bridge. We asked our vet to send our 2 boys so bonded in life, over the bridge, together.
To say we feel lost, goes without saying. To say we feel hollow, goes without saying. To say we miss their dear comfort and gestures of love for us, goes without saying.
I am here in tears, writing. Their collars and leashes are still in the car, empty. And a fluff of Gabriels fur is still curled in the car door storage. Grief. How does one quantify it? Our friends rallied around us knowing how devastated we would be. Even this cannot alter our feelings of loss.
Gratitude, though. Much. For having had them both for the time they were our family. We are left with wonderful memories and not a single regret. Would we do this all again? In a heartbeat.
