This story is related to “my boy Titan”.
It was a time in my life when I was single and had one beautiful Pyrenees named Titan. Titan was 6 at the time and I received a call from the breeder I had gotten him from advising me she had more puppies and could get a frequent flyers discount if interested. Well long story short, I had a sweet 12 week old puppy for New Year’s Day. He was named Zeus. Now Zeus was not like Titan in that he was a complete Helion from go. Would not listen to a word. I would take him out of the situation to get him to focus elsewhere, but no, he would go right back and try again. As he got bigger, I knew I had to adjust things for him and me. He was a bully to Titan and Titan allowed it. Zeus became a sick thief, he would take one sock and bury it in the couch, in the yard, under bed pillow and was quit stealth in the process. He wanted to play all the time, loved his toys, but started to become aggressive if I wanted him to stop and took the toy away. Like I say, he was a full on tyrant! So consistent work, and 4 years later, he finally calmed down. Thank goodness!! He still likes to take a sock now and then and still loves playtime, but no more aggressive behavior. The last year has been great for him. I work for the SPCA of Texas and he comes to work with me every day. He loves it. He is so well behaved, listens to commands and has become everyone’s buddy. If you read these stories to gain insight into the Pyr.. I can offer this. Be patient, be consistent and show no fear. Do not hit the animals, one, it really doesn’t faze them and two, aggression begets aggression. You don’t want a 150lb dog that can take down bears coming at you. They are the single best breed I have had the privilege to love and be loved by.
