Having lost a Pyr to old age and raising a new puppy now, this story does not surprise me at all. The devotion to protection is so ingrained in the dogs nothing will be able to change it. Even a puppy who has not learned much yet has that protective instinct. To those of us who know the breed, and love them, stories like this just drive home the feeling of safety and security provided. My Pyr ranges our property with us daily and use the driving park to keep out intruders of the two and four lagged kind. To love and a great heart, good by Old Man. (Rollo.05/31/2010)
