Drinking of water

by Elaine
(Freedom, Pa USA)

Our rescued Great Pyrenees of 2 1/2 month refuses to drink water in the house. She will only drink water from her outside bowl. How much should she be drinking a day. Any solutions on how to get her to drink in the house?

If you feed a species appropriate diet, they don't need to drink as much.

If it's really hot out, she'll drink more.

If it's not, she'll drink less.

Some dogs are just like that. Pyrs are particular.

Healthy dog guideline is between 1/2 and 1 oz. of water per pound of body weight.

If you get snow, they seem to prefer to eat snow instead of drink water. I wouldn't worry about it.
