Eyes - Blue eyes

We have three purebred Great Pyrenees pups and one female has blue eyes. is that uncommon?

Blue eyes

The default eye color for dogs is brown. Genetics, pigmentation, and health issues can all play a roll in altering the colour of their eyes.

Your dog is an AKC registered dog (pure bred). The breeder will be happy to speak to you about this.

Light Amber eyes

My Great Pyrenees actually has a light golden Amber eye color. It is a genetic mutation of eumelanin. Do not have him as a show dog so it doesn't matter to me. It's absolutely stunning and people stop us all the time to stare at him. I wish I knew how to post a picture of him to this site so you could see
